Close to 8000 households are without power this evening as gusts trim down leafy trees. Even mild wind storms are known to cause power outages early in the fall season due to unfallen leaves on the trees.
Winds are expected to die down this evening, and power is estimated to be restored by midnight. This is only the beginning of windy season here in the northwest, and the forecasts are pointing to some more windy days ahead.
Meteorologists are watching weather models closely for possible windstorms and heavy rain by Thursday next week.
